At least eight persons were killed and 37 others sustained injuries, including five children in fog-related separate road accidents across Punjab and Kohat on Monday. Dense fog has engulfed the plain areas of the Punjab which has resulted in disturbing the routine life of citizens whereas the thick fog has caused various road accidents all over the Punjab.
As per details, a bus coming from Karachi to Lahore collided with another bus at Khanpur Road near Chak 78 PK, Rahim Yar Khan. The bus collision has claimed two lives and left 13 people injured.
In another road accident, one person died and more than 20 people sustained injuries, including five children due to the collision of two buses with a trailer in Okara.
Further, as many as four people along with one child lost their lives when a van rocked with the tractor trolley whereas the dense fog at Bannu Road became the cause of injuries to four people including one woman. The accident took place when a truck struck the Suzuki van near Kohat University.
Chilled air passing over the dampened lands poured forth rolls of thick fog over Lahore and parts jamming sunlight, plummeting visibility to near zero, and resultantly bringing the operations at Allama Iqbal International Airport to a flightless halt.
The fog, which is hanging in heavy, is doing all that it does to multiply the problems for people, who are already hit by bone-marrow-chilling cold.
Motorway was also closed for all kinds of traffic in the morning and motorists instructed to either avoid travelling altogether or if it is awfully necessary for them to, then drive slowly, and use reflectors.
