Members of Tehreek-i-Haqooq-e-Bara, a movement for rights of Bara IDPs from the tribal Khyber Agency, demanded the government to announce special compensation package and provision of soft-loan for traders, whose businesses affected by the ongoing military operation in the restive tribal agency.
The demand was made by the movement Chairman and Jamaat-i-Islami deputy general secretary Fata, Shah Faisal Afridi, while addressing at a news conference at press club here on Monday.
For the last six years, he said that the commercial and business activities have been badly closed down in wake of the prolonged military operation in Tehsil Bara, Khyber Agency. He said the tribal traders' community has incurred huge financial losses under present circumstances. He demanded the government to immediate open Bara bazaar to revive business activities, and hustle and bustle of tribesmen in the area.
Similarly, he said a large number of children have been deprived from education facility due to their influx during the military action from the tribal agency.
Flanked by JI ameer Tehsil Bara, Khyber Agency Sultan Akbar Afridi, Khan Wali Afridi, Mohammad Farooq Afridi, and Mohammad Irshad Afridi, JI leader said the fresh military operation 'Khyber One' was launched without prior intimation or notice to tribal families to shift safer places from tehsil Bara, due to which many people were killed and left injured during firing of mortar shells, while he added, hundreds of mud-houses also destroyed, remaining un-flattened homes looted.
Afridi said the internally displaced persons of Bara, are being faced with enormous difficulties to get rented-houses due to adequate arrangements for their shelter facility in the settled areas, while they (IDPs) didn't afford huge rents of the houses. He said the authorities had failed to provide tents facility to internally displaced families at makeshift Jalozai camps, despite the making commitment by the government in this regard.
The movement chairman said the military operation "Khyber One' has almost completed of two-month its launch, but the government and relevant authorities, didn't take steps to mitigate sufferings of fresh internally displaced person from the Bara, Khyber Agency. He added the Bara IDPs have been deprived from monthly allowance, cash, and winter packages, along with food and non-food facility. He viewed the tribesmen from Bara, had also rendered numerous sacrifices for the motherland.
JI leaders demanded the government to immediate make arrangements for voluntarily return of internally displaced families and should take steps from their rehabilitation in their respective tribal areas. He further urged to announce a comprehensive compensation package for reconstruction and rehabilitation of roads infrastructure and along with special for trader community to revive business activities in tehsil Bara, Khyber Agency.
