The Karachi Port handled 67,195 tonnes of cargo comprising 35,508 tonnes of import cargo and 31,687 tonnes of export cargo including 4,887 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 35,508 tonnes comprised of 22,530 tonnes of containerised cargo; 12,478 tonnes of general cargo and 500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 31,687 tonnes comprised of 26,325 tonnes of containerised cargo; 35 tonnes of general cargo and 5,327 tonnes of rice. As many as 4,887 containers comprising of 1,743 containers import and 3,144 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 596 of 20's and 385 of 40's loaded while 187 of 20's and 95 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,298 of 20's and 639 of 40's loaded containers while 200 of 20's and 184 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Hyundai Paramount, MOL Dignity, Tian E Zuo, Sapphire-T, BW Kronborg, Ocean Merry and Sunbay carrying containers, oil tankers, fertilizer and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. Pona, Sima Prestige, Japan and Bum Shin carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.
There was one ship namely Shalamar carrying oil tanker sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while four ships namely APL Guangzhou, Lissy Schulte, Kota Karim and Thorco Sapphire carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.
There were five vessels viz. Kota Karim, MT Quetta, CPO Australia, Tulip and Gloster-1 carrying containers, oil tankers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while three vessels viz. PAC Aries, BBC Spring and Interpid carrying containers, project cargo and talcum powder respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 79,780 tonnes comprising 46,728 tonnes of import cargo and 33,052 export cargo inclusive 2,852 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 46,728 tonnes includes 2,700 tonnes of diesel oil; 3,661 tonnes of sunflower seed; 5,000 tonnes of chemical; 5,795 tonnes of fertilizer and 32,072 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 33,052 tonnes includes 10,936 tonnes of cement and 22,116 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,852 containers comprising 1,688 containers import and 1,164 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. There were two ships namely CV MSC Vienna and MV Feng Hai-35 with containers and chemical sailed out sea on Tuesday morning, while another ship namely CV Safmarine Ngami carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Safmarine Ngami, CV MSC Vienna, CV Pona, MV Alam Madu, MV Minoan Grace, MV Ann Kjerstz, MV Feng Hai-35 and MT Al-Soor-II currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, sunflower seed, fertilizer, chemical, and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as seven ships namely Al Abdali, CMA CGM Debuss, Sunbay, Gas Lonian, JS Green Sun, Sea Harvest and MT Lahore with containers, steel coil, chemical and furnace oil are at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
There were five vessels viz. CV Al Abdali, CV CMA CGM Debussy, MV BBC Spring, MV Sunbay and MV Gas Ionian with containers steel coil and chemical expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There are two ships namely CV CMA CGM Rablais and CV Maersk Columbus with containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
