Supreme Court of Pakistan here on Friday sought report from Wasa about improvement of the drainage system of Lahore. The court was holding suo motu proceedings about discharge of rainy water from courts' premises and other areas of provincial capital. The court directed the officials to make proper arrangements of draining out the rainwater.
The court also directed to ensure early disposal of rain water from premises of all the courts. Earlier deputy managing director Wasa appeared before the court on Friday and submitted the details of arrangements for disposal of water. He said that new sewerage system could be laid from Lakhshmi Chowk to Gulshan-e-Ravi with a cost of Rs 7 billion. He said that to improve the system of whole city, WASA needed funds for which it had finalised the recommendations. The court earlier had expressed concern and inquired from him about the poor arrangements for disposal of rainwater.
