The Karachi Port handled 198,137 tonnes of cargo comprising 128,146 tonnes of import cargo and 69,991 tonnes of export cargo including 4,892 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 128,146 tonnes comprised of 47,622 tonnes of containerised cargo; 42,228 tonnes of general cargo; 25,798 tonnes of bulk cargo: 8,762 tonnes of coal; 17,036 tonnes of project cargo and 12,498 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 69,991 tonnes comprised of 51,056 tonnes of containerised cargo; 538 tonnes of general cargo; 18,397 tonnes of bulk cargo: 3,797 tonnes of rice and 14,600 tonnes of talcum powder. As many as 4,892 containers comprising of 2,665 containers import and 2,227 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,439 of 20's and 581 of 40's loaded while 24 of 20's and 20 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 805 of 20's and 248 of 40's loaded containers while 334 of 20's and 296 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eleven ships namely Hyundai Busan, Cosco Kawasaki, Deira, APL Seattle, Wan Hai-516, BW Shinano, Stellar Maestro, Elina-B, Al-Shuwaikh, Yangize Happiness and Matsushima carrying containers, oil tanker, coal, project cargo, live stock, steel and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were nine vessels viz. HS Marco Polo, Commodore, Northern Power, Al-Shuwaikh, Yangize Happiness, Hyderabad, Interpid, Man He and Bao Yun Sheng carrying containers, live stock, steel, coal, talcum powder and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There was one ship namely Shalamar carrying oil tanker sailed out to sea on Monday, while three ships namely Lissy Schulte, APL Guangzhou and Thorco Sapphire carrying containers and oil tanker are expected to sail on Tuesday. There were six vessels viz. OEL Trust, Posen, Songa Peace, Tromso, MT Karachi and Ras Ghumays-1 carrying containers, tallow, mogas, oil tanker and rock phosphate respectively due to arrive on Monday, while two vessels viz. Kota Kasturi and Gema carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 51,376 tonnes comprising 29,473 tonnes of import cargo and 21,903 export cargo inclusive 1,518 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 29,473 tonnes includes 8,337 tonnes of coal; 7,171 tonnes of chemical and 13,965 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 21,903 tonnes includes 3,900 tonnes of cement and 17,903 tonnes of containerised cargo. There was one ship namely CV MSC Rachele with containers sailed out sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely CV Posen carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of four vessels viz. CV MSC Rachele, MV Common Spirit, MV Elina-B and MT Pacific Sun currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, coal and chemical respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as six ships namely Safmarine Ngami, Posen, MSC Carolina, Al Dasma, Yasa Aysen and ECE Nur-K with containers, sunflower seeds, diesel oil and edible oil are at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
There were two vessels with containers and coal took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Iron Ore & Coal Berth respectively on Sunday. There are five ships namely CV Safmarine Ngami, CV Posen, CV MSC Carolina, MT Yasa Aysen and MT ECE Nur-K with containers, sunflower seeds and edible oil due to arrive on Monday.
