Pakistan on Tuesday dismissed Indian allegations as baseless and preposterous that the "terror-boat" that exploded off the Gujarat coast was from Pakistan. Commenting on the assertions by her Indian counterpart regarding the "terror-boat", Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said that Pakistan was opposed to terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and had been the biggest victim of terrorism.
"The people and government of Pakistan are determined to eradicate this menace from our territory," she said, adding that the brave armed forces of Pakistan were successfully conducting a comprehensive and across the board operation - Zarb-e-Azb - to root out terrorism. On the other hand, the people of Pakistan saw the escalation of tension by India on the Line of Control and Working Boundary through continuous unprovoked firing and targeting of civilians, as an attempt to distract our armed forces from its valiant mission against all terrorists, she added. "The baseless and preposterous Indian allegations regarding the so called "terror boat" from Pakistan are also in the same vein," the spokesperson said.
Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Monday maintained in New Delhi that "Circumstantial evidence" indicated that the occupants of the vessel were "suspected or possible terrorists" and that they were in touch with Pakistani maritime officials and army.
Earlier, talking to Indian media, the spokesperson described the Indian assertion as a "very silly allegation", saying "We have checked with our authorities, no boats left from Pakistan". Tasnim Aslam further pointed out that the spokesperson of the Indian External Affairs Ministry also made equally baseless and malicious allegations regarding the 'citing' of Punjabi/Urdu speaking terrorist elements in Afghanistan.
