The Balochistan police would install Biometric system at Arsenal Depot aimed at keep check on issuance of arms and ammunitions, Capital City Police Officer Quetta, Abdul Razzaq Cheema told APP here. The move came after police officials deployed at Balochistan Constabulary's arsenal depot sold out 750,000 rounds of SMGs and other weapons in Quetta some days back.
The police officials and other personnel involved in the scam set the arsenal depot of police on fire to remove clues to their robbery. "The incident of stealing and selling round of SMGs is deplorable," any officials or personnel of police found guilty would not be spared and to be dealt in accordance with law, CCPO said. He noted that to secure the arsenal from being sold out to arm dealers and keep check that the weapons are away from the range of the elements opposed to peace, police department is mulling over to install biometric system at gun houses.
He noted that under the supervision of SSP, investigative a team has been constituted to probe into the arm scam and take the responsible to task. Police official among two personnel of Law enforcement agencies are on physical remand and soon the facts would be made public about the selling of arms.
CCPO said that case has been registered with the police station and efforts are afoot to extract the information from the detainees. Abdul Razzaq Cheema said that several mortar shells, rounds of pistols and weapons were destroyed during the fire ignited by the accused to conceal their robbery.
