Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) strongly condemned the arbitrary action taken by Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) against PBA Tuesday in Karachi. The CCP officials entered the premises of PBA Secretariat and took away all the important original record/documents without assigning any reasonable grounds or by giving any prior information/warning.
This action of the government is being taken as an attempt to suppress media and curb freedom of expression by using strong arm tactics and putting pressure on the parent electronic media body. The statement further said that this action of CCP was against the principles of natural justice as there was no prior notice to the Association by the department. PBA urged the Prime Minister to take immediate steps for redressal against this arbitrary and high handed action of Competition Commission of Pakistan.-PR
