Pakistan's Ambassador to Germany, Syed Hasan Javed called on Mayor of the Port City of Germany, Hamburg, Senator Ms. Dorothee Staperlfeldt on Wednesday and exchanged views on matters of mutual interest with special reference to trade and economic relations between the two countries.
He briefed her about the various steps being taken by the Pakistan Government to attract foreign investment and informed her that a Special Economic Zone was being developed in Pakistan exclusively dedicated to German investors and manufacturers, according to a message received here from Berlin.
Ambassador Javed said that Pakistan's geographical location provided land access to half of the world population living in and around its neighbouring countries and the German investors and manufacturers, specially Small and Medium Size Entrepreneurs should take advantage of the future Economic Hub. They may relocate their production units to Pakistan, closer to the end users of their products, making them cost affective, he added.
He also proposed the Hamburg-Karachi port partnership to enhance trade between the port cities of two countries and sought technical cooperation and support to upgrade the port facilities in Karachi.
