Fight against terrorism: Pakistan's Pushtoon leaders meet Ghani, seek cooperation

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani met Pakistani delegation of political leaders on Saturday in Kabul during which measures to increase co-operation regarding regional security and fight against terrorism were discussed. According to the Afghan's President House, Pakistani politicians - Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao and Afrasiab Khattak met the Afghan President in Kabul. Afghan President wished to enhance bilateral relations by solving the problems between both countries.
According to the Afghan media, Pakistani delegation stated that there is no difference between good and bad Taliban whereas terrorism is not only a threat to Pakistan but to the entire region. The delegation of Pakistani political parties arrived in Kabul Thursday night upon the invitation of President Ashraf Ghani to discuss potential co-operation between the two countries over their shared security threats.
Sherpao told Afghan media that the delegation would be meeting with Afghan stakeholders to discuss a number of important issues pertaining to the two countries, including an assessment of the overall security environment and common efforts to stymie insurgent activity along the Durand Line.
The Pakistani delegation was also said to have met with Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah and prominent leaders of Afghan political parties. Afghan analysts have voiced skepticism about the trip, suggesting those participating from the Pakistani side are not influential enough to seriously impact Islamabad's policies or events on the ground. "Peoples Party, Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif parties are among the influential political parties, but Mahmood Khan Achakzai's National Party doesn't have influence and has only one seat in parliament," Afghan political analyst Ahmad Saeedi said.
