Prices of essential food items remained stable last week, as compared to the preceding week, reveals a survey conducted by Business Recorder on Saturday.
During the period under review, tomatoes were being sold at Rs 60 per kg, sugar at Rs 56-58 per kg, pulse Masoor washed at Rs 150 per kg, pulse Moong washed at Rs 180-185 per kg, pulse Mash washed at Rs 165-170 per kg, different qualities of rice were being sold at Rs 80-160 per kg, vegetable ghee loose at Rs 160-165 per kg, milk fresh at Rs 90-95 per liter and curd was being sold at Rs 100 per kg, mutton at Rs 640-660, different kinds of fish were available at Rs 220- 400 per kg, while beef was being sold at Rs 300-330 per kg.
The survey noted slight decrease in some food items last week as compared to the preceding week as chicken were available at 170-180 per kg against Rs 190-195 per kg, eggs at Rs 115 per dozen against Rs 120 per dozen. The survey noted that fresh vegetables prices also remain unchanged last week as compared to the preceding week as cabbage was being sold at Rs 55 per kg, Karila at Rs 80 per kg, brinjal (Baingan) at Rs 40 per kg, Shimla Mirch at Rs 80-85per kg, cucumber at Rs 70 per kg, green chili at Rs 80-90 per kg, green peas at Rs 60-70 per kg, ginger at Rs 140 per kg, garlic at Rs 190-200 per kg, potatoes were being sold at Rs 35-40 per kg, while onions at Rs 30 per kg.
The survey noted that fruit prices almost remain unchanged last week as compared to the preceding week as bananas were being sold at Rs 70-100 per dozen, apple at Rs 60-140 per kg, kinoo at Rs 40-45 per dozen, fruiter at Rs 50-60 per dozen and guava at Rs 75-80 per kg.
