The family and relatives of a newborn baby kidnapped by an unidentified woman from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Saturday staged a protest demonstration and blocked Islamabad Expressway. A doctor on the condition of anonymity said that Shahiza Zia, wife of Ziaullah, a resident of Alipur Frash Town, gave birth to a child on Friday evening at the Mother and Child Health Care Center of PIMS and was later shifted to general ward. At midnight, an unidentified woman came to the ward and fled with the baby from there, he added.
The family members of the baby blamed the staff of hospital for their involvement in kidnapping of the baby and demanded arrest of the culprits involved. However, the management of the hospital, instead of accepting responsibility, tried to blame the family for the disappearance of the baby. Meanwhile, a five-member committee has been set up to investigate the incident and security supervisor have been made part of it. Police also arrested some suspects and shifted them to Margalla police station for investigation.
