The political parties that adopted a unanimous National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism must be full of praise for the army chief for directing all the concerned under his stewardship in army and intelligence agencies to initiate an action on an urgent basis for speedy and effective implementation of the plan. His action that he took within 24 hours of the convening of the APC speaks volumes about army's resolve and seriousness towards the challenge of terrorism and extremism in the country.
While chairing a high-level security meeting at military general headquarters in Rawalpindi a week ago, he reportedly paid rich tributes to national political leadership for their spirit and unwavering resolve to rid Pakistan of the menace of terrorism through reforms and administrative measures. It is heartening to note that both political and army leadership are on the same page; they are thinking in a similar way. The situation, therefore, gives birth to a legitimate hope of stability in the country. The successful passage of the 21st Amendment by Parliament shows that the resolution of the protracted terrorism issue is now very much in sight.
