Gymkhana players shine in Golf 'Inter Club Team Match'

In the Inter Club Team Match between a 26-member Lahore Gymkhana Golf Team and Royal Palm Golf Club Team, contested at the Gymkhana Golf Course, the honours went to the host team due to superb performance by Gymkhana players who combined exceedingly well to carve out a victory for their club.
This Inter Club Championship is regarded as a clash of champions and unfortunately for the Royal Palm team players they found the team members of Lahore Gymkhana at their playing best and in outstanding form. Though the adept ones of Royal Palm showed resilience in the four balls and individual matches, ultimately the will of Gymkhana players prevailed who held sway by virtue of their confident play all through the eighteen holes. Out of the 13 four ball matches the Gymkhana pairings won eleven contests and in the individual competitions, out of 26 matches Gymkhana players won 16 in total while Royal Palm won 8 matches. Two matches in singles competition ended up level. The overall aggregate score for Lahore Gymkhana was 34 points as against 13 points compiled by Royal Palm.

As for the singles match performers ,the Gymkhana winning points were yielded by Hamza Mansoor,Waleed Zubair,Taimoor Shabbir,Salman Jehangir,Sameer Iftikhar,Farooq Khan,Wazir Ali,Ahsan Khawaja,Sardar Murad,Irfan Bhatti,Ahmed Khalid,Aftab Arshed,Khawaja Jehanzaib,Mohsen Javed,Ali Anwer and Saeed Ahmed. Royal Palm winners in individual matches were Abbas Ali Khan, Shoaib Bokhari, Lieutenant Gen(R)M.Tariq, Abdullah Sharif, Moeen Salahuddin, Faisal Iqbal, Rizwan Shafi and Asim Tiwana.
At the conclusion of the Inter Club Match ,Lieutenant Gen(r)M.Tariq Captain Golf of Royal Palm handed over the glittering trophy to Sardar Murad Khan, Captain Golf of Gymkhana in the presence of Agha ali Imam,Convenor Golf of Lahore Gymkhana. The next championship will be held in November and the contest will include team from Defence Raya Golf Club besides Royal Palm and Lahore Gymkhana.
