As the western world reacted bitterly to the attack on French satirical weekly, , Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) on Thursday condemned the Charlie Hebdo weekly for its fresh blasphemous cartoons and announced a countrywide protest against the blasphemous cartoon and to glorify Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The JI Karachi will observe 'protest day' on the call of JI Chief Sirajul Haq on January 16 (today) against Charlie Hebdo magazine for printing of sacrilegious sketches of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Chief JI Karachi, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman told a news conference at Idara-e-Noor-e-Haq.
"The JI will organise protest demonstration outside different mosques after Friday prayers for condemning the deplorable act of western media," he told newsmen, saying the French satirical weekly had hurt the sentiments of 1.5 billion Muslims in a bid to revenge the attack, killing its editor along others. The publication is an "anti-Islam" approach of the western nations, he said, adding that the world had repeated the blasphemous material, which a Danish newspaper had published in 2005 to deride the Muslims faith.
Hafiz Naeem called the blasphemous stuff as 'heinous', saying the arrogant west had showed a total indifference to the Muslims faith and their sentiments to support the anti-Islam move loudly and stubbornly.
Fascists carried out grenade attacks at different mosques in Sweden and France but police raided the homes of those who had condemned the blasphemous sketches on the social media, leaving the anti-Muslim assailants at large, he slammed.
"Jamaat-i-Islami considers publication of blasphemous sketches an open terrorism of western countries towards Muslim world and said that the Muslims will never tolerate such kind of offence," he said.
The JI Karachi Chief urged the Muslim nations to condemn the France's publication against Islam and undertake collective efforts to protect Muslims and their faith across the world, especially in Europe.
