Rawalpindi Islamabad Photo Journalist Association (Ripja) organised a photo exhibition here at National Art Galley of Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) with the purpose to highlight role of police in the society. The exhibition was inaugurated by Inspector General (IGP) of Islamabad Police Tahir Alam Khan on Thursday, where about 100 photojournalists from the twin cities participated in the exhibition while 100 photos of police activities in the federal capital were put on display.
Speaking on the occasion, Tahir Alam said photojournalists, through this exhibition, have portrayed the "true picture of Islamabad Police, which deserves all appreciations."
Assistant Inspector General (establishment) Sultan Azam Temuri said the exhibition would help in identifying their flaws and improve their performance.
He said provincial police force had taken steps for accountability and check negligence on part of police.
Later, at a prize distribution ceremony, Ishaq Chaudhary of The Dawn was given the first prize while other photojournalists including Syyed Mehdi (The Nation) and Muhammad Asim (Online) received second and third position in the competition, whereas senior photographer of Business Recorder Mazhar Ali Khan also got prize.
IGP and Ripja body members felicitated all photojournalists for exhibiting a wonderful, skilled and professional work.-PR
