Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan on Thursday said that his party had conveyed to Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) to inform it about the exact date for singing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) handed over to its negotiation team on December 30, 2014.
Addressing a press conference at his Bani Gala residence, PTI chief said that PTI leader Jehangir Tareen had written a letter to Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, who headed the government negotiation team, to remind him that he was to return the ordinance and MoU after consulting with PML-N leadership and allies.
"Further delay in resolving this long-standing matter would be detrimental to the national interest and prevailing political environment, therefore, a date may kindly be conveyed to his party for formally signing of the MoU (of which the agreed text of the ordinance is an integral part) so that his party can make proper public announcements and the ordinance can be promulgated, he said, while quoting the letter.
Imran said that according to the MoU handed over to PML-N both the parties have agreed in the national interest to resolve the issue through an impartial Judicial Commission. The PML-N agreed that on an ordinance under article 89 of the constitution would be promulgated which would provide for the formation of a Judicial Commission, he said.
He said that under the MoU the commission shall comprise three judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The commission shall enquire into and determine weather or not" a) the 2013 general elections were organised and conducted impartially, honestly, fairly, justly and in accordance with law, b) the general election 2013 have been manipulated or influenced by anyone and C) the results of general election 2013, on overall basis are a true and fair reflection of the mandate given by the electorates.
Khan claimed that Ishaq Dar and his fellow negotiators including Ahsan Iqbal hesitated over these points, but eventually they agreed and told PTI members that they would return after formal approval of these points by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
He further said that the discussion took place on December 30 and since then none of the government team members including Dar had made a contact with them. "There is no doubt regarding the manipulation of last general elections and there are evidences of record rigging in the elections," said the PTI chief said.
Imran further said that votes of NA-124 were found from NA-122 which is the constituency of National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq. According to Election Commission Pakistan (ECP) laws, 34000 votes were found to be invalid in NA-122.
Regarding the protest of the parents of Peshawar School attack's victims, he said, "I can understand that the parents of the martyred children are grieved, but neither the school was run by the provincial government, nor its security was our domain. Everyone knows it is a military-run school," he said.
He said that that he can understand the anguish of the parents and if it was lessened by venting their anger against him, he was ready to visit the school again.
Imran Khan also strongly condemned the publication of blasphemous caricatures by a French magazine.
