Chief of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) and former president, General Pervez Musharraf (retd), said here on Sunday that hereditary politics was the root cause of all the ills being faced by the country.
He said that on the one hand, a particular group always ruled the country owing to hereditary politics and, on the other hand, educated and talented youths were not being allowed to come forward in politics and government institutions.
He was talking to members of Pakistan Youth Parliament who, along with the party's secretary general, Dr Amjad, called on him at his residence.
Musharraf said that the country cannot move ahead unless the educated and talented youth play their role in government institutions. He said that time has come that the youths should unite against `inefficient' and `corrupt' rulers who had brought the country to the brink of disaster.
He deplored that under the present system it was not possible for the talented youths to reach the assemblies and get appropriate positions in government institutions.
The former president said that `incapable' sons and grand sons of politicians were being elected to the assemblies, promoting corruption in the country.
He cautioned that if the educated and honest youths were not allowed to come in the forefront, they would lose their faith in the future of the country. He asked the youths to get united and steer the country out of the present crises.
