Business circles have condemned publication of sacrilegious caricatures by the French magazine. They demanded the French government to take notice of provocative material. President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Fazal Jilani while addressing a press conference on Monday afternoon he said that freedom of expression does not means to hurt the sentiments of any religions.
The SCCI President on this occasion also expressed dissatisfaction over the poor security arrangement made by different schools and colleges of the city adding that though the educational institutions had made security arrangement inside the institutions but no appropriate measures had been adopted outside the institution. The SCCI President urged upon the district administration to take effective step for ensuring proper security measures inside and outside the educational institutions.
The district administration should also take proper measures for the smooth traffic flow and under the arrangement one-way traffic system should be implemented in letter and in spirit for avoiding traffic mess during peak hours in the city, he said. On this occasion, he urged upon the district administration to take immediate action against the establishment of illegal parking stands in thickly populated and most busy areas for ensuring smooth traffic and special security arrangements should also be ensured at petrol pumps. The illegal parking stands set up in busy commercial areas were creating hurdles for pedestrian and general traffic he added.
The SCCI President said that industrialists and general public were facing serious problems due to non-availability of petrol as a result of which daily chore was paralysed and attendance in factories, government and semi-government remained very thin. It was very unfortunate that business community despite various odds was making hectic efforts for enhancing the export volume but non-availability of petrol was creating serious hurdles because makers and vendors were unable to transport the exportable goods to factories, he said. Chairman All Pakistan Dryports Association Muhammad Ishaq Butt also spoke on the occasion.
