Arbab Ghulam Rahim, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader and former Sindh chief minister on Friday criticised the Sindh government, saying there is no democracy in the province. Talking to media persons outside the Sindh Assembly, Rahim called for better governance in the province. "Sindh needs better political system that can be beneficial for the people".
The PML-Q leader said he agreed with MQM chief Altaf Hussain who said that there was no democracy in Sindh. He also said that PPP leaders Khursheed Shah, Rehman Malik and others had requested him to join their party but he refused. While criticising the provincial government over its poor performance in Thar, Arbab Rahim said the opposition parties would constitute a separate parliamentary committee over Thar crisis.
Separately, Liaquat Ali Jatoi, another opposition leader and ex-chief minister, also lashed out at the PPP government, saying it has failed in fulfilling its basic responsibilities. "Diseases like Hepatitis B and C are common as there are no basic health facilities for the people," he told media. Jatoi said the government through its bad governance was paving the way for imposition of martial-law.
