ECP extends deadline to apply for postal ballot
The Elections Commission of Pakistan (ECP) extended on Thursday the deadline given to differently-abled voters to apply for postal ballot.
According to the ECP, the deadline, which was supposed to end today, has been extended by five days till July 10. The election commission has extended the date in order to ensure that maximum number of voters use this postal ballot facility.
On June 26, the ECP allowed the differently-abled people with special Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) mentioning their disability, to vote through postal ballot. The ECP had given the special persons till July 5 to file application requesting the postal ballot facility from respective Returning Officer (RO).
Meanwhile, earlier the ECP also extended the polling time by one hour. The new timing for polling will be from 8 in the morning till 6 in the evening.
With just 25 days left till the general elections, preparations are in full swing. As many as 106 political parties will be running for 849 general seats of national and provincial assemblies. The parties have already started their respective election campaigns.
