Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday blamed Islamic world leaderships for publication of blasphemous caricatures in a French magazine, saying lack of poor leadership is the reason to divide Muslims into island of isolation. Speaking at a conference of religious clerics or Ulema & Mashaikh, he said despite all energy resources, as well as selfish-motives are hindering them to move forward, adding 10 million Jews are controlling the whole worlds but Muslims, being the second largest in the world are lagging behind due to selfish-motives.
The PTI chairman said that judges, generals, politicians and clerics all are equally responsible for what is happening in Pakistan. He said that the Ulema have failed to play their due role in creating harmony in the nation. The PTI chief pointed his guns at Maulana Fazlur Rehman, chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F), saying no matter how corrupt the government it is, Maulana Fazl could be seen extending full support to it for the sake of his share of the cake.
If this is the role of our religious clerics, he added, God knows where this country will head as it is the Muslims who are making themselves handicapped through their actions and greed. He said a small section of society has hijacked millions of people, adding he had witnessed religious clerics selling their conscience for the sake of a few pennies. He said Pakistan can become a great nation if the rulers could show some sincerity towards uplift of common man.
He regretted that instead of beating one's chest over publication of blasphemous caricatures by a French magazine, the Muslims should have put their house in order, so that no one could dare exploit them. The PTI chief said that Islam was spreading rapidly in Europe and that the publication of blasphemous caricatures was done to provoke Muslims and alienate them from Western society.
Khan also called for reforms in religious seminaries. He again resorted to scathing criticism of the ongoing multi-billion Metro Bus Project of ruling PML-N, adding that money is being wasted on unnecessary projects. "Why money is not spent to reform syllabus of seminaries and why billions of rupees are wasted in bus projects...why can't we reform the seminary syllabus and impart them with modern education," he questioned. The PTI leader ended his speech by once again trumpeting allegations of polls rigging, adding that 2013 elections were rigged and the people were deprived of their right to vote.
