The Karachi Port handled 102,993 tonnes of cargo comprising 75,348 tonnes of import cargo and 27,645 tonnes of export cargo including 6,367 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 75,348 tonnes comprised of 35,810 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,513 tonnes of general cargo and 38,025 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 27,645 tonnes comprised of 23,628 tonnes of containerised cargo; 536 tonnes of general cargo and 3,481 tonnes of rice. As many as 6,367 containers comprising of 2,780 containers import and 3,587 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 886 of 20's and 707 of 40's loaded while 310 of 20's and 85 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 429 of 20's and 539 of 40's loaded containers while 894 of 20's and 593 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were nine ships namely Northern Power, Commodore, OOCL Shanghai, Kota Karim, PAC Aries, DL Ace, EL Gurdabia, Glovis Spirit and Himala carrying containers, oil tankers, vehicles and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were nine vessels viz. Commodore, PAC Aries, Ever Radiant, APL Chicago, Cosco Osaka, Hyundai Colombo, BW Zambesi, Glovis Spirit and Himala carrying containers, oil tanker, vehicles and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There was one ship namely Ever Radiant carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday, while two ships namely Captain Costas and MT Karachi carrying containers and oil tanker are respectively expected to sail on Friday. There were four vessels viz. RHL Aqua, Sudair, Silver Gertrude and Biedong Melody carrying containers and mogas respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while another vessel viz. Bunga Lucerne carrying chemical is due to arrive on Friday.
The total import cargo of 88,849 tonnes includes 4,759 tonnes of diesel oil; 2,400 tonnes of edible oil; 8,480 tonnes of coal; 10,176 tonnes of canola seeds and 62,700 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 34,538 tonnes includes 6,038 tonnes of cement and 28,500 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,800 containers comprising of 3,300 containers import and 1,500 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There was one ship namely MV Arkas with cement sailed out sea on Thursday morning, while three ships namely CV CMA CGM Toska, CV Maersk Chicago and CV OOCL Kobe carrying containers are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of nine vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Toska, CV Maersk Chicago CV OOCL Kobe, MV Arkas, MV Icarus, MV Nord Phoenix, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Yas and MT SC Taipei currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, coal, canola seeds, chemical, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as two ships namely Rotterdam and Epic St Gerce carrying containers at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Thursday. There were three vessels viz. CV Judith, CV Nordic Hong Kong and NYK Furano carrying containers expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Thursday. There are no ships due to arrive on Thursday.
