Price cut of POL products: benefits should be passed on to masses directly: Shahbaz
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that the benefits of record decrease in the prices of petroleum products should be transferred to the masses directly and concerned ministers and departments should play their role in this regard. "There should not be any complaint of non-availability of petrol at any pump of Lahore and other cities of Punjab. Indiscriminate action should be taken against owners of petrol pumps involved in overcharging." He said this while addressing a meeting of Price Control Committee through video link at Civil Secretariat here on Monday.
The Chief Minister said that provision of relief and basic amenities to the citizens is the agenda of Pakistan Muslim League-N government and maximum resources are being utilised for this purpose. Shahbaz further said that government has made substantial reduction in the prices of petroleum products for the fourth time and he will personally monitor the steps taken to transfer the benefits of this decrease to the masses. He directed that reduction in transport fares in proportion to the decrease in petrol price should be ensured. He said that AC transport fares should also be reduced.
The Chief Minister expressed displeasure over the failure of some departments in taking necessary steps for providing relief to the masses and warned the concerned authorities that no negligence or laxity will be tolerated. Provincial Ministers Chaudhry Muhammad Shafiq, Bilal Yasin, Member National Assembly Muhammad Afzal Khokhar, Members Provincial Assembly Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Waheed Gull, Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police, secretaries of concerned departments and senior officers attended the meeting through video link.
