A Portuguese woman kidnapped Wednesday in a rich Maputo neighbourhood has been freed, her embassy announced Friday. A Portuguese man abducted Monday remains missing. The woman was freed around 2000 GMT on Thursday night, Portuguese embassy official Goncalo Gamos told AFP. "She is in good health and was well treated," he said, without providing details on whether a ransom was paid.
The woman was kidnapped Wednesday from a street close to the presidential palace, in an area where most of the foreign diplomatic missions' offices are based. She was reportedly taken after a road accident caused by her captors. This kidnapping is the third since the beginning of the year.
