According to International Cricket Council (ICC), the bowling action of Pakistan's ace spinner Saeed Ajmal has been deemed legal. He was reported for suspected illegal action in August and he failed the initial tests. But the ICC said following remedial work and retests, he could resume bowling in international cricket.
How unfortunate it is that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and its Selection Committee for the cricket World Cup have not greeted this development in a manner that it deserves. Najam Sethi, a PCB official-cum a top TV anchor, has claimed that the ace off-spinner who, according to him, is a 'golden asset' of Pakistan, has considerably lost his effectiveness and he cannot produce the desired results because of a remodelled action.
Whether Ajmal plays in the World Cup or not, he will be welcomed back at Worcestershire next summer. What answer does Mr Sethi have in relation to English county's decision?
