Punjab Assembly here on Tuesday passed a unanimous resolution condemning publication of blasphemy caricatures of the Holly Prophet (PBUH) recently in a France journal. The house also passed a resolution on sad demise of King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia. Legislators termed his death as a great loss.
On a Private Day, Punjab Assembly passed a resolution presented by MPA Waseem Akhtar asking for ban on medicines and sprays on vegetables. The resolution pointed that these were injurious to human beings. A resolution by MPA Nighat Shaikh asking for audit of private educational institutions was passed on the occasion. The resolution suggested that tax on these institutions should be levied in light of this audit. In a query period on local government parliamentary secretary stated that under Punjab Local Government Ordinance 2001 DCO was in charge of district administration.
He stated the provincial government was endeavouring to introduce new local body system. Parliamentary Secretary said Punjab Local Government Act 2013 has been enforced from 13-09-2013. He pointed that with party based elections, amendments had been done in the act. Regarding Solid Waste Management, Parliamentary Secretary said that under private-public partnership, two plants one at Lakhoder and other at Mahmood Boti had been established at Lahore.
He said that under measures taken regarding solid waste, 1,000 tonne was provided for Refused Derived Fuel project of a company. The Parliamentary Secretary said that 800 tons composite waste was provided to a Lahore Company in respect of fertility of land. He, to a query, said 4,626 BTS Towers were established in period 2006-2013(Zong 700, Mobilink 750, Telenor 720, Warid 550, U-Fone 600, World Call 126,50 PTCL, Wi-Tribe 130). The house was later adjourned by the chair for today (10.00am).
