President Mamnoon Hussain has said that land and air connectivity between Pakistan and Central Asian Republics is need of the hour as it will boost economic co-operation with Turkmenistan and other countries of the region. Atadjan Movlamov, Ambassador of Turkmenistan, called on the President at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Friday and conveyed invitation of the President of Turkmenistan to attend the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the 'Declaration of Turkmenistan's Permanent Neutrality' to be held in December 2015 at Ashgabat.
The President said Pakistan considers Turkmenistan an important regional player due to its strategic location and energy resources. Turkmenistan can help Pakistan in meeting its energy requirements while Pakistan can provide land and sea trade corridor to Turkmenistan. The President encouraged the idea of regular people-to-people exchanges to establish contacts and enhance cultural co-operation between the two countries. The President emphasised on the need to explore new possibilities of economic and commercial co-operation and advised that trade facilitation bodies and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of both the countries be enabled to create linkages and synergies in agriculture, textile, food processing and other sector of mutual interest.
The President stated that Pakistan attaches high priority to the timely completion of the TAPI Gas Pipelines Projects and also conveyed his good wishes to the Turkmen leadership. The Turkmenistan Ambassador apprised that both Pakistan and Turkmenistan share the mutual vision of economic co-operation and Turkmenistan is interested in availing benefits from the experiences of Pakistan particularly in textile sector.-PR
