Some 0.25 million children would be administered polio drops during a fresh anti-polio campaign being launched on February 14 in eight sensitive union councils of the city, it was learnt on Friday. Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqi told this correspondent that the polio teams would be provided foolproof security in order to avert any untoward incident.
It is pertinent to mention here that 6 polio cases have been detected in the country this year. Pakistan is facing travelling restrictions due to increase in the number of polio cases. Now it has become mandatory for the countrymen of all ages to get polio drops and produce a certificate before travelling out of the country. According to the Commissioner Karachi, the polio campaign would be completed in two days and 1,258 teams would participate in the campaign. During the campaign, seven health camps would also be established to create awareness among the masses.
