The law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) on Thursday nabbed 15 suspects including an alleged terrorist in connection with terrorist attack on the Imambargah Qasar-e-Sakina located at New Shakaryal when the faithful were offering Namaz-e-Maghribain. According to sources, the police and other law enforcement agencies have arrested 15 suspects as well as an alleged hardcore terrorist during a joint search operation and also recovered weapons from their possession.
However, the law-enforcement agencies did not reveal the identities of the suspected persons and terrorists, as they believe that early disclosure of their names would affect the operation.
Sources said the suspects were shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation. They further said that the Capital Police also submitted an initial investigation report about the terrorist attack to the Ministry of Interior. According to the report, three persons were killed and two other injured when a lone suicide bomber blew himself near the main hall of Imambargah.
They said that around five to six kgs explosive material and a hand grenade were used in the attack. The suicide bomber first opened fire at the security guard for making his way to the main hall of the Imambargah which resulted in causalities. Sources added the body of the terrorist is intact, police took sample for DNA test, fingerprints and face shots of the attackers, which have been sent to National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) for identification.
