On the final day of his visit to Pakistan, the UK's Minister for the Cabinet Office and Paymaster General, the Right Honourable Francis Maude met Minister of Planning, National Reforms and Development, Ahsan Iqbal on Thursday. He also addressed a high-level roundtable of senior officials from Pakistan's Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms to discuss the experience of Civil Service reforms in the British Government.
Speaking at the event, Maude said, "The UK Government's efficiency and reform programme is built around the principles of driving greater accountability through transparency, controlling spend across departments over common goods and services, empowering those delivering services, doing more online and encouraging public servants to try new things and take sensible risks. We are also supporting public mutuals, where public servants 'spin out' to form employee-led organisations delivering public services. There are already over 100 such mutuals in the UK delivering £1.5 billion of public services a year. "These reforms have helped the central UK Government save taxpayers £14.3 billion last year alone, compared to 2009-2010 baseline."-PR
