Ginners of Punjab and Sindh have accused Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) of withholding their dues amounting to Rs 2300 million. Moreover, ginners who have sold 94,600 bales of cotton to the TCP in the wake of a decision of federal government are yet to receive their payments, it emerged on Friday.
Accusing TCP senior officials of violating Economic Coordination Committee's directives concerning the procurement of one million bales against Rs 25070m, ginners of Punjab and Sindh alleged that the TCP officials have refused to buy the cotton stock of those ginners who are not willing to grease their palms.
They further claimed that the TCP officials despite approving 90 per cent samples which they had collected from more than 300 ginning factories were reluctant to procure the stock for the reasons best known to them. Ginners also complained that chairman of PCGA has, so far, failed to get the dues of majority of ginners released and as a result of which the amount had soared to more than 2000m.
They also alleged that the PCGA chief has, on the one hand, did not raise the issue 5pc GST on oil-cake with the FBR chairman and the federal government and, on the other, agreed to pay Rs 6 per maund on oil-seed without convening a general body meeting of the Association.
