Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Science and Information Technology (DoSIT) in collaboration with the IT Board, the World Bank and other partners, is going to hold the digital youth summit 2015, aiming to create more jobs and provide opportunities to youths in the IT sector.
The KP IT Board Director Marketing, Ms Shahnaz Shamsher, while talking to this scribe said that youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was very talented being acknowledged world-wide. "The youth is talented but they need opportunities," she said. The IT Board has been working on different projects to make the IT more common and easier in the business perspective, the Director said. She said the IT Board is going to organise second digital youth summit 2015, which will be held from 7th to 9th May, 2015.
The official said that after terrorism, joblessness was the major problem in the province. The youths would find more job opportunities in the coming digital youth summit, she said, adding that the summit would also encourage self-employment among the talented youths of the province. She maintained that results of the previous digital youth summit had become very encouraging as many IT organisations have shown interest to invest in the province.
Faisal Khan, an expert of information technology, said that around 70 speakers and more than a thousand delegates would participate in the coming summit. The participants would share their experiences in business point of view that would pave the way for youths to have more jobs in the IT sector, he said.
Besides other aspects of the technology, he said that funding for private IT organisations, marketing, on line jobs and how to help the government in E-governance etc would be discussed in the summit. There was a wide gap between universities' courses and industries' requirement, he said. "We are trying to reduce this gap through such summits." he said. He said the industry and agriculture sector was not sufficient for jobs in the current scenario rather focused should be made on jobs in the IT sector.
KP Minister for Information Technology Shahram Khan Tarakai while talking about the summit said the provincial government was working on a number of initiatives to effectively utilise the information technology for finding out solutions to the day to day issues of the masses, improving the capacity of government departments and ensuring utmost transparency in government affairs, adding that the holding of Digital Youth Summit 2015 is an important step forward in this regard. He expressed the hope that such initiatives would prove very helpful to materialise the idea of new Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of the present provincial government.
Shahram Khan maintained that the youth of the province was full of talent and innovative potentials and the provincial government will not only provide opportunities to such youth to showcase their talent but will also patronise their innovative activities.
