Prosecution for speedy disposal of cases: Punjab government decides to introduce reforms
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting, here on Thursday which reviewed in detail the steps taken in the province under National Action Plan (NAP). The meeting expressed its satisfaction in this regard while it was also decided to introduce reforms in the Prosecution Department for speedy disposal of cases. The meeting also discussed the proposal to give additional incentives and promotion to the prosecutors on the basis of their efficiency.
Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that NAP is a unanimous national strategy to eliminate terrorism from the country. He said that rooting out terrorism, extremism and sectarianism is mission of the entire nation and victory is the only option in the war for survival of the country. He said that war against terrorism will be taken to its logical end. He said that necessary amendments have been made in the laws for curbing terrorism, extremism and sectarianism while sentences have been made more stringent over violation of some laws.
He directed that the ban on misuse of loudspeaker, publication and distribution of literature based on religious hatred and wall-chalking should be implemented strictly. He said that indiscriminate action should be carried out against terrorists as well as their facilitators. He said that a vigorous crackdown will be launched against illegal arms and security arrangements in jails be further improved. He directed that foolproof security of mosques, Imambargah, worship places and other locations be ensured. He said that Quick Response Force (QRF) be deputed at important places for security besides an effective monitoring system be devised in Prosecution Department. The Chief Minister said that Punjab government has taken solid measures for the protection of life and property of citizens and modern technology is also being used for the maintenance of law and order. He said that measures are also being taken for reforms in police system while digital technology is also being used for the monitoring of entry and exit points of the province. Shahbaz Sharif directed that a watchful eye be kept on miscreants while all necessary resources should be utilised for improving law and order. Provincial Ministers Colonel Shuja Khanzada (Retd), Ata Maneka, MNA Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, Assembly members Rana Sanaullah, Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Special Assistant Rana Maqbool Ahmed, Inspector General Police, Secretaries and senior officers concerned were present on the occasion.
