The audience at Karachi's National Association of Performing Arts (NAPA) got a special treat: US Consulate Karachi sponsored Mary McBride Band performing beloved American musical favourites. On a return visit to Karachi, Mary McBride and her band are participating in NAPA's 10th anniversary "International Music Festival 2015."
"First of all, let me wish our friends at NAPA a happy 10th anniversary," said US Consulate Cultural Affairs Officer Li Ping Lo. "We are all so grateful to NAPA for promoting theatre and music. It offers Pakistanis a broad array of cultural attractions and a home to visiting international artists."
This is the second time that the US Consulate has arranged for Mary McBride and her band to visit Pakistan, said Ms Lo. "Mary McBride loved her last trip to Pakistan. She was so touched by the hospitality of the people that she was thrilled to be able to come back."
Mary McBride and her band have released four albums - "Everything Seemed Alright," "By Any Other Name," "Every Day Is a Holiday," and "The Way Home." As a cultural envoy for the US Department of State, Mary McBride and her band have performed in more than 20 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Afghanistan, and Russia.
