The Punjab police is setting up 'Police Facilitation Desks' in the government hospitals of all districts to ensure the timely provision of medical treatment to the serving / retired force and their families. This was stated by Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera while chairing a meeting held at Central Police Office here on Thursday regarding police officials' health facilities.
He directed all police field officers to set up those Police Facilitation Desks at the main entrances of all government hospitals with the approval of their administrations. Minimum two dutiful and dedicated officers will be deployed at these desks. These officers will maintain a register as per the prescribed proforma already issued by the CPO.
Moreover, these desks will be responsible to maintain constant liaison with the hospital administration, maintain list of doctors / specialists, management of appointment in case of surgical procedures, liaison with field officers in case of getting urgent financial help for medical treatment. The field officers were also directed to nominate a focal person of the rank of ASI or above for maintaining liaison with these desks besides to keep close contact with welfare Control Room established in CPO comprising of a DSP and three officials.
The Welfare Control Room will directly report to the IGP and can make random phone calls to the patients / officials at the Facilitation Desk for feed back and onward submission. The IGP said "junior police employees / officials are our real fighting force and asset and the department will leave no stone unturned in providing them health facilities. This is the reason, the decision for establishing the 'Police Facilitation Desks' in government hospitals of all districts was finalised, which will ensure the timely provision of medical treatment to the serving / retired force and their families.
