A high-level meeting held under the chairmanship of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Finance Muzaffar Syed Advocate has principally sanctioned the up-grading of paramedics post in the province to grade 12 from grade 9 to improve working conditions of the paramedics working in the public sector. The decision has taken at a meeting convened to deliberate over the improvement of the paramedic's service structure in Civil Secretariat Peshawar on Thursday.
The meeting attended by Senior Ministers such as Minister for Health, Shehram Khan Tarakai, Secretary for Health Mushtaq Jadoon, Special Secretary Finance Fahim Siddique, high-ups of the Health, Establishment and Finance departments and Representatives of Paramedics Association. The meeting after discussion approved to alleviate paramedics post from grade 9 to 12.
The meeting also determined matriculation with science-cum-two-year diploma in technology as a prerequisite for initial recruitment to the post. Similarly 3,813 new posts have created for paramedics in different grades to broaden their chances of promotion. According to the proposed upgrading plan, the number of the existing paramedic posts in grade 20 were enhanced from one to 13, in grade 19 from five to 32, in grade 18 from nine to 64, in grade 17 from 168 to 662, in grade 16 from 226 to 1,285, in grade 15 from 316 to 1,799 and in grade 14 from 1,084 to 3,856 respectively.
Similarly, 25 percent quota was also allocated for in service paramedics having higher qualification to grade 14, 17 and 18 respectively. Muzaffar Syed directed the concerned quarters to put of a formal summary in this regard to ensure implementation of the upgraded plan earlier on the occasion. He warned that no delay would be tolerated in this regard.
The Minister of Finance said the government now intended to overcome the problems of the derived class by facilitating them. He divulged that the government was trying to improve the quality of services by ensuring justice. He asked the paramedics to extend excellent services to the ailing humanity as the government was considering comfort of the patient as a priority.-PR
