Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) Contractors Workers on Saturday staged a sit-in protest outside the Hyderabad Press Club (HPC) against non-regulation of their services. The protest was held by the SSGC All Contractors Workers Action Committee Regional Office Hyderabad.
Protesting workers said that they were working since last 20 years as contractor workers but their services were not regulated so far. Aside from this, they are being neglected continuously since last many years and now their contracts are not being extended where many workers lost their jobs, they said.
Apart from this, they are under-paid despite the government announced minimum wages of Rs 12,000 per month and in addition to this, they are not being paid in time. Even their salaries are seen three to four months delay, they said. They appealed to the government to regularise their services and also raise their salaries to the government announced minimum wages.
