K-Electric has come out and rebutted baseless accusations put forward by the Water Board and clarified, that there was no major outage at any of the pumping stations of the KWSB, and it is appalling that KE is blamed for KWSB's shortcomings and its own mismanagement.
Rebutting some of the KWSB claims, KE's statement emphasised that most of the power breakdowns and outages at the pumping stations occur due to the obsolete and outdated cabling system that KWSB operates on. KE's own network gets affected due to these outworn cables and KE's team has visited KWSB's stations and has offered help and guidance and has advised them to update their own cabling system repeatedly, but sadly, KWSB has to date, refused to update its network.
As per details, there was an outage of 15 to 20 minutes at some of the pumping stations whereas most of them were immediately back-fed from alternate sources. KWSB as always has taken advantage and has exaggerated this situation, creating an artificial water crisis in the city.
KE's statement said that KWSB owes the power utility more than PKR 35 Billion, which is no small amount. Despite all this, KE provides uninterrupted power to all the pumping stations so that the people of Karachi do not face any water shortage in their respective areas.
KE's spokesman added, "KWSB owes the power utility over Rs 35 billion and continuously fails to pay its monthly bill. It is shameful that despite this default, they make exaggerated and baseless allegations on K-Electric. KWSB's management should overcome its own incompetence and improve its network to resolve the water crisis which has affected almost every part of the city".-PR
