Mobilink has become the only telecom company to have received the Green Office Certification for three of its business premises in Lahore and Islamabad. The latest WWF Green Office Award 2015 was granted after its Head Office, Mobilink House and adjacent IBC II building, Islamabad premises were successfully audited for their consumption of electricity, paper and the residual solid waste and the awareness level of its employees.
Overall, Mobilink was able to decrease its consumption of the above resources by 73 percent. Mobilink had earlier recorded a 35 percent reduction in carbon footprint and 50 percent in solid waste among other measures taken in 2014.
Omar Manzur, Head of Corporate Communication Mobilink said, "Mobilink's Corporate Responsibility function ensures that our employees are aware of environment-friendly practices and make efficient use of resources. The Green Office Award recognises the continuous efforts that the Mobilink Torch-bearers, Mobilink Foundation and the Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) departments have put in to establish Lahore and Islamabad offices as eco-friendly premises."
As part of this initiative earlier in 2014, an Environmental Management System was devised to promote a greener work environment which also helped in reducing Mobilink's business carbon foot print for the premises. This included daylight saving measures, recycle and reuse protocols and fostering of eco-friendly practices amongst Mobilink employees. As part of the programme Mobilink continues to reduce the consumption of water and electricity as well as ensure reduction of solid waste produced as a result of its daily work practices.-PR
