A monthly meeting of EDOs Health was held at the Directorate General Health Punjab under the chairmanship of Secretary Health Punjab Jawad Rafiq Malik here on Monday. The meeting reviewed the steps taken for the control of polio, measles and dengue and evaluated the routine immunisation of Extended Programme of Immunisation (EPI).
Punjab government has directed EDOs Health in the province to remove the deficiencies in health indicators and improve the performance of Health department at district level. The meeting also discussed in detail performance of EDOs Health in connection with the implementation of Chief Minister's Health Roadmap Programme. The meeting made a detailed comparison of the data sent by the monitoring and evaluation assistants and Health Watch regarding the presence of medical officers and availability of medicines and basic health units at rural health centres.
Secretary Health directed the health managers to accelerate implementation on the CM Health Roadmap Programme. He directed that procurement / availability of medicines in all government hospitals and health centres at district level should be ensured by March 15, and all the under repaired bio-medical equipment must be made functional by March 31.
He also directed that presence of medical officers at all the health centres must be ensured and correct data should be sent to the department. The officers of Chief Minister's Health Roadmap Programme, special monitoring units and Punjab Health Sector reforms presented their reports regarding the performance of the government hospitals and EDOs.
Secretary Health hoped that performance of district health department will further improve as a result of implementation of Chief Minister's Health Roadmap Programme and e-monitoring of the health centres with regard to prevention of diseases, improvement in mother and child health, control of maternal mortality rate and provision of health facilities at local level. Parliamentary Secretary Health Kh Imran Nazir, DG Health Dr Zahid Pervaiz, Director Punjab Health Sector Reforms Programme Ali Bahadar Qazi, Directors of different health programmes including EPI and CDC, all EDOs and representatives of international partners attended the conference.
