Asuman Kiyingi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Dr Muhammad Ahmed Kisuule, Ambassador of Uganda visited Pakistan and met Secretary Board of Investment (BoI) Iftikhar Babar to discuss and explore the investment and trade opportunities in Pakistan. The Secretary BoI offered them that Uganda companies may explore the possibility of establishing Uganda specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Pakistan.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and the Ambassador of Uganda emphasised that both the countries should enhance bilateral trade and investment in all spheres and effective mechanism may be finalised between the two countries. He urged the private sector of Uganda and Pakistan to come forward and play a crucial role. Both sides may consider exchange of trade and investment delegations as well as trade fairs and single country exhibition, which could play a significant role to achieve the desired goals and promote trade, investment and bilateral relation.
The Secretary BoI Iftikhar Babar informed them that the Board being the apex state agency for investment promotion and provide facilitation to foreign investors may extend a cordial invitation to Ugandan businessmen/ entrepreneurs to visit Pakistan and explore the investment opportunities available in all sectors of Pakistan and assured them full support with regard to arranging their meetings with relevant ministries/divisions/departments in materialising the project proposals in Pakistan. At the end Secretary BoI thanked the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and the Ambassador, and appreciated the efforts and intention with regard to boost trade, investment and economic relations between the two countries.-PR
