Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday reserved judgment in a bail after arrest plea filed by Zafar Iqbal Gondal, former chairman of Employees Old Age Benefit Institution (EOBI), who is allegedly involved in the Institution's multibillion scam. A single-member bench of IHC Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi reserved its judgement.
Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Jahangir Jadoon urged the court to reject the bail application on grounds that being the Chairman of the EOBI Zafar Gondal was involved in the embezzlement of Rs 370 million after which the Federal Investigation Agency probed the matter. Farooq H Naik appeared on behalf of the petitioner and pleaded that his client has nothing to do with the scam, adding that the purchase of property for the EOBI was decided by the institution's Board of Directors.
