Jamaat-i-Islami Central ameer, Siraj-ul-Haq on Friday said that the politics of using money in Senate elections was buried forever, and vowed he will raise voice for downtrodden segment of society in the Senate. Talking to media persons here, JI chief said the attempts had been made to rig the Senate elections. He, however, said the provincial lawmakers had blocked way of use of money in the electoral process.
He said the way to lures of money for rigging Senate elections, was buried forever, with firm resistance of provincial lawmakers. He suggested the Senate elections should be held through direct process. JI chief stressed that a system must be introduced to prevent way of rigging in the elections. He thanked the provincial lawmakers for reposing confidence on him and elected as senator for next six year term. He vowed he will make representation of depressive and helpless people in the Senate.
Haq, who also elected as Senator for next six year term, asked the government to fulfil its commitment regarding constitution of judicial commission for making probe in the alleged rigging the last general elections in the country, and should also take steps for electoral reforms to bring more transparency, and fairness in holding of elections in the country.
The electoral reforms committee, should also heard recommendations and masses opinions as well, he asked. "There should be developed a system, in which not a marginal chance of rigging", he suggested. JI chief urged the PML-N led federal government and leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf to show flexibility in their stance, and to make settlement for resolution of the issue. He asked the PTI parliamentarians to come to national assembly. The political jirga, he said has supported the recommendations of both sides for amicable resolution of differences between PTI and PML-N.
"We want change in the existing system", Haq said. He added the states-quo politics must be ended. For this purpose, he informed JI will launch a movement by April 05 across the country. He added the movement will be against 'states-quo' politics, and would be extended to every town, and village. He said the campaign would be conducted on larger scale across the country, through which people would be given membership of the party.
JI chief said he will make struggle for provision of relief to people and replacement of existing oppressive system. "We will talk rights of poor masses and ideology of the country", he said. Commenting on Sino-Pak economic corridor project, Haq said the attempts have been made to make the important Kashgar-Gwadar economic route project controversial, and asked the government to take steps for removal of any doubts and reservations about that crucial project. We will never allow change in the original route of Sino-Pak economic project, and any attempt should be foiled in this regard, he warned.
