Matloob Ahmed of Garrison Golf Club, who managed to break the winning spell of M Shabbir, emerged as Champion in the event of the 2nd J A Zaman Memorial Open Golf Championship contested at par-72 Gymkhana Golf Course over 54 holes.
Over the past two years Shabbir has reigned the professional golf circuit of Pakistan and whenever he competes the title invariably falls in his lap but this time it goes to the credit of Matloob Ahmed that he was in no way cowed down by the presence of Shabbir.
Over the three rounds Matloob has been in command of this championship and even in the last round when nerves were under test, Matloob remained composed and played his shots with ample winning flair. There was a perfection oriented touch to his power hitting and hitting off the fairways and the wholehearted effort yielded fruitful dividends in the shape of title victory and a lucrative purse.
At the conclusion of the 2nd J A Zaman Memorial Open Golf Championship the prizes were awarded to the winners Hamid Zaman, Head of the Zaman Family and Mian Mibah-ur-Rehman Chairman Lahore Gymkhana.
