President Mamnoon Hussain has said that the government was committed to protect women's rights and improve their living standard. He was addressing a function in connection with the World Women's Day in Islamabad on Sunday.
The President said no nation can make progress without empowering women. He said Mohtarama Fatima Jinnah is the role model for the women of Pakistan.
He said the government will remove lacunae in laws regarding rights of women. He pointed out that Pakistan was following UN Conventions on women rights to eliminate gender discrimination.
President Mamnoon Hussain said development was not possible without eliminating corruption. He said there was a need for social boycott of the corrupt elements.
