24 terrorists executed; 25,896 people arrested: NAP report presented to Prime Minister
The government since launch of National Action Plan (NAP) to rid the country of extremism and terrorism has so for executed 24 criminals, while law enforcement agencies arrested 25,896 people on different charges across the country.
The report presented to Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, and based on information available from December 24, 2014 to March 8, states that 14 people have been executed in Punjab, seven in Sindh, one in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and two in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The report states that security agencies conducted 24,844 combing operations all over the country. Of these 13,288 operations were conducted in Punjab, 4,252 in Sindh, 5,456 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 66 in Balochistan, 393 in Islamabad, 1252 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), 54 in Gilgit Baltistan (GB) and 83 in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
The report states that under the National Action Plan (NAP) the security agencies arrested 2,519 from Punjab, 4,854 from Sindh 14,165 from KP, 3,427 from Balochistan, 728 from Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) and nine from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), 18 from GB and 176 from FATA. Regarding the violation of law on the use of loudspeaker, the police also arrested a total of 3,906 people, including 2,874 in Punjab, 169 in Sindh 322 in KP, three in Balochistan and 90 in ICT.
In total 737 cases have been registered for spreading hate speech and material. These included 562 in Punjab, 37 in Sindh, 80 in KP, 11 in Balochistan, 46 in AJK and one in GB. The law enforcement agencies also arrested 745 people and sealed a total of 69 shops on same charges.
According to the data, around 6,408 Afghan Refugees have been deported including 4,887 from KP, 798 from Balochistan, one from Islamabad two from Gilgit Baltistan and 720 from FATA, whereas 328,034 have been registered. The Federal Investigation Agency has registered 62 cases of money transfer through Hawala Hundi, arrested 81 people and recovered Rs 101.7 million, while nine cases have also been registered for suspicious transactions and 17 people arrested.
In total 303 actionable calls were received on anti-terror helpline 1717 including 201 in Punjab, 25 in Sindh, 37 in KP, nine in Balochistan and 27 in ICT, two in AJK and one each in GB and FATA. Around 2237 intelligence-based operations were also conducted throughout the country. The cellular mobile companies, in co-operation with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) have so far verified SIMs including; 17,594,698 of Telenor, 16,753,505 of Mobilink, 10,104,020 of Zong, 7,625,460 of Ufone and 5,257,867 of Warid.
