Secretary General Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has called upon the government to accept the ten point charter of demands (CoD) submitted by the Kisan Board of Pakistan (KBP) in order to solve their problems. He was talking to a delegation of the KBP that called on him at Mansura. The delegation which was led by the KBP president Sadiq Khan Khakwani, apprised the JI Secretary General of the hardships being faced by the farming community and the highhandedness of the Punjab police towards the Kisans.
The charter of demands included withdrawal of the GST on agricultural inputs, provision of the fertilizer to the farmers on the printed rates, fixation of support price for crops, revival of the flat rate for electricity to tube wells, interest free loans to small farmers and allotment of alternate lands to the tillers of state land, Cholistan lands besides the lands washed away by the rivers.
