The employees of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) on Tuesday staged protest against the killing of their two colleagues, who were shot dead by unidentified attackers in Sohan area in the limits of Shehzad Twon police station. The employees identified as Anwarzada and Ansar Memmod were shot dead during their routine visit to Sohan area. Soon after the incident, the area police rushed to the site and shifted the dead bodies to Polyclinic Hospital for post-mortem. The police handed over the dead bodies to heirs and IECSO employees after completing legal formalities.
Javed Iqbal, Regional Secretary IESCO, while talking to Business Recorder said that the two employees of meter detection team of IECOS were shot dead by unidentified people when they (IESCO employees) detected power theft from a meter at Sohan. IESCO employees will stage protest on Islamabad Express Highway on Wednesday (today) against the murder of their colleagues.
A number of IESCO employees gathered in front of the hospital and staged protest and blocked Fazl-e-Haq road for traffic. They marched toward the National Press Club along with dead bodies. They held demonstration outside National Press Club along with the bodies. They offered funeral prayers of both the deceased in front of press club. The protesters dispersed peacefully following assurance from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan that police would soon arrest those involved in killing of IESCO employees.
