Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan said on Tuesday that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will invest Rs 15 billion in tree plantation across the province. Addressing the media persons in Chakdara, the PTI chief said his party will soon fulfil its promise to plant one billion trees in the province.
Accompanied by KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, Minister for Forest Ishtiaq Umar, Minister for Irrigation Mehmood Khan and others, Imran vowed that to plant 1 billion trees in KP "the campaign will also provide employment to the local people". The PTI chief said the KP government will form a force to preserve trees and monitor forests through satellite and helicopters. "We will work against the timber mafia," he said. He said the PTI-led government would take every step for making KP green and clean at all levels. He said a Nigehba force would be formed for prevention of forest from the timber mafia in the province, while monitoring of forest would be conducted through satellite system. "Nobody will escape involving in cutting of trees, he warned, adding that the government would take all possible measures for protection of forests in the KP province.
